How it works
The standard measure of typing speed is WPM (words per minute), but a "word" here is not an actual word: the international convention counts every 5 characters as one word, spaces included. That is what makes the number comparable across languages and across passages with different word lengths. There are two ways to count: gross WPM takes everything you typed, and net WPM counts only the correct characters. Net is the one that matters, because it is the only one that cannot be inflated by typing anything quickly — it is the headline result here. Accuracy, in turn, is the share of correct characters out of everything you typed.
