How it works
Text is stored as bytes, and which bytes depend on the encoding: the letter é is c3 a9 in UTF-8 but a single e9 byte in ISO-8859-1 and Windows-1252. Hexadecimal writes each byte as two digits, which makes it the usual way to read raw data in logs, network captures and file headers. This converter encodes text to hex and decodes hex back to text in UTF-8, UTF-16 (little and big endian), ASCII, ISO-8859-1 and Windows-1252. If a character does not exist in the chosen encoding, or a byte is not defined in it, you get an error instead of a silent replacement.
