How it works
BMI (Body Mass Index) is calculated by dividing weight in kilograms by height in meters squared: BMI = weight ÷ height². It's a simple indicator used for population-level screening, but it doesn't distinguish muscle mass from body fat and doesn't account for factors like age, sex, or body composition — so it isn't a substitute for an individual medical assessment.
